Made in Mogotes

Crafts make us feel rooted,
give us a sense of belonging
and connect us with our history.

Phyllis George

Mogotes is a small village in Colombia where people work hard with the resources they have to make a living: coffee, sugarcane, cows. Some artisans farm a plant called fique. The fique goes through a long process and eventually becomes a thread-like material that can be crafted into a number of products like the bags and rugs you see here.

This page is for products made by the people of Mogotes. Click on the categories below for more. If you are interested in purchasing anything personally or importing for a shop abroad, please contact me at stephanie.sadler@hotmail.com and it can be arranged.
